It's top speed in the air is close to the average speed of a TT in the 1000. Even if you entered in the buggy glider thing you wouldn't win unless you could fly the whole way without stopping for fuel. It would make a good support vehicle though.

You're forgetting that this thing can travel the distance in a straight line at a constant speed.

But it will be a pain in the ass finding a place to land to refuel, and it still has to go through all the checkpoints.

Very good points, I guess the primary issue is fuel (which can be resolved by using a lighter driver and adding a spare tank of sorts) and landing space, which is a bit harder to resolve.

It's a powered paraglider, it can land for fuel just about anywhere you can drive a 55 gallon drum of avgas to. And if the organizing body decides that it has to drive through the checkpoints, a simple touch and go would solve the problem. Seriously, these things can land and takeoff on a dime.

They have to stop at the checkpoints, and no these can't just land and takeoff at all of them. Also, their location is unknown to the racers so if you take shortcuts off course you risk missing them and being disqualified.

It'd still be worth a shot, for the lols if noting else.
